It all started pretty modestly: from Bristol to Ljubljana, emcee Alex Holy and beatmaker Marka San set out to make a few moves long distance style and see if this game can produce a track or three. Fast forward some swift but prudent combinations they quickly and unexpectedly already had all the pieces for a proper album. A small part of this game is their debut EP Chess, a hazy swamp made of flamboyant lyrics and muddy production of hard hittin' beats and unrecognisably deformed samples. It's an EP that resonates much: the exciting murky sound of the New York underground of the late 90's (the cult label Wordsound included), the the darker side of the modern era trends and the exciting weirdness of the current sounds that are coming strong from the British milieu. It doesn't copy, it references, mostly unintentionally.
To quote the guy with firm dislike for quotes: "Shakespeare made me hate quotes, Titanic made me hate boats."
